grendel
is Brooms tank big enough? still it will mean nice fresh fuel for all the boaters this year

Let's face it there is not really an alternative option for fuel around Brundall. Regards Alan
ZimbiIV
Thinking about it, Robin probably won't want all that fuel laying aboard, so we will have to take a guestimate of the last legs usage. paul
Guest
I'm pretty sure brooms will have enough after all were not talking about the queen Mary there are plenty of boats that size in brundall some even bigger too

How accurate will that be. Prizes are at stake here to say nothing of reputations . Besides its good practice to have the tanks full . BroadAmbition
The final fuel up will be at Goodchilds. We planned that way from the word go. So the final count up will be the same for all This mornings fill up was the biggest yet but yesterday we was running at 2400rpm. No chance of that at present. BrundallNavy
Is it too late to guess 5000 ltrs.
grendel
Yes, especially as you will be crewing on the last leg, so will probably adjust the revs to get as near that as possible
TheQ
Having looked at the photos of her ploughing through the waves, I think many of us are going to be way too low on our fuel estimates... 1
grendel
they had throttled back to about 1600 rpm for that section, so were probably using less that you estimated. Having said that somebody has opened her up as she is just off Lowestoft and racing along at 14.5 knots at the moment

LizG
Well WR uses about 8 litres (I think) to get from Horning to Beccles so ....... I will think about this in the morning!!! Might as well have a go if it isn't too late?

Islander
Think I'll stick to my old 2.5BMC. I was way off, probably only got to Dover with my estimate. Colin
Meantime
33 minutes ago, Hockham Admiral said: WOW! WOW indeed! I think Griff said somewhere the journey was 320 nautical miles? If so then very roughly 10 litres per mile. Don't suppose a lift out, transport by road and lift back in would have been much cheaper, and a lot less fun for the crew and the rest of us.
NeilB
I thought it would be around that, my guess was 3,300. I may have spent few minutes studying the engine spec sheets and passage plan though ! Still didn't win though.
neilp1962
3000 odd litres !!!!! I know you've come a long way but 3000 odd litres Holy flippin moly, I shudder if I don't get anything back from my £100 fuel deposit

LizG
I wish I had stuck with my earlier calculation this morning based on WRs consumption = 8 litres for 30 river miles multiplying it by 4 because Indy is bigger x 325 nautical miles which I thought was about the distance came to 3160 litres! At least Robin won't have to fill up too much from now on!
Bedslad
Wow, mind you if they hadn't had to fight currants and tide I think my 1623 would've been near enough right....................or not
deebee29
Hmm so no fuel deposit money back this time then Thanks for keeping us all informed, It really feels like we’ve been part of the adventure
