MauriceMynah
Thanks for the info Grendel, it is the Horning butcher trading under a new name (it might have been doing that for years but I never noticed) Will certainly try their black pudding!!! SteveO
Louise, the previous Horning butcher retired 2 or 3 years ago. Tavern took over the shop after that. Make sure you ask for the real pigs blood stuff. They may well do a cheaper variant made with dried blood and you don't want that.
annv
Yes i endorse what Steve o says its amazing the difference in taste and texture of real pigs blood and not dried black pudding. John

Willow
Great updates, Will be trying some of these when we're down in a fortnight, Is it to much to ask for list of places for evening meals with moorings within walking distant? We all have our faves, and why so let's see them !!!!
AndyTBoater
Morning all. I feel a resurrection of a thread coming on. The last post here was in 2019. What with Covid, change of ownership and stuff there must new venues to be added and defunct ones to be removed. Also, I would like a list of places that have not just good but excellent breakfasts. Myself and SWIMBO are oftentimes stuck for a good breakfast venue and cant always remember where we had one and if it was any good. I shall (of course) be rating these suggestions First on my list is Black Barn Farm at Salhouse. Unfortunately not anywhere near a river but serves our new favourite breakfast. Its great for people with either 1. Access to a car 2. Really efficient legs for walking Also does regular farmers markets and stuff
bucket
Excellent thread revival!......our favourite is the Old Mill in Hoveton, on the riverside between the King's Head and the bridge, excellent breakfast and great service. A very close second is the Granary at Ranworth, really good breakfast and good service. The only downside is the mooring fee.
CambridgeCabby
Can second The Black Barn breakfast , best I’ve had in the area , all local produce and plentiful . Excellent farmers market also although incredibly busy
petersjoy
I'll add this link for the site, allready had it on my favorites as a possibillity for coming back with the caravan. https://www.pitchup.com/campsites/England/East_Anglia/Norfolk/salhouse/black-barn-farm/?adults=2&availability=on&child_ages&children=0&inline_search=1&nights=3&pitchtype&scroll_to_pitchtype=%23CheckAvailabilityPanel&type=
Jbx5
Fizz and Fromage would be a good choice in Hoveton (opp train station) for breakfast. I wondered we're all the people were coming from to Black barn farm now i know . Tried it a couple of times as walking distance from home food ok but very busy. marshman
Good job we are all different - I found the whole set up at Black Barn only OK and will not be rushing back! Not sure what people see in it or rave about. It is not a patch on Meales up at Wayford where I find the shop exceptional.
MauriceMynah
I really must try Meales. At the moment my vote goes to the cafe in the industrial estate in Hoveton near where Bolters is.
Gracie
The Wayford Bridge Inn do an excellent breakfast and a Sunday roast to die for. Not a Farmers Market but you also have Meales garden centre which is more than just a garden centre and the cafe there is very good too Cook your own on board, how delightful is the smell of bacon wafting from a boat as you walk past. I have found over the years if the family vote on dining in or out, they normally opt for out Grace x 4

Now, let me think.... hmmm Ahh yes. It's too hot, or perhaps, it's too cold. It's raining, it's been raining or it's going to rain. I'm in a hurry or maybe even .. no time, I need to clean my boat. Yessss, that's the one.
Troyboy
We are back on Bella Maria from Richardsons in May. Monday to Monday. The Sunday roast at Wayford Bridge Inn sounds perfect as we return towards Stalham. Good thread revival.
