First explain to her that vacuum cleaners are for wimps,    Not brave enough.  I have a Henry hoover for work, they are great bits of kit although I did have to replace it last year as the previous one got married - It stopped sucking!

The new socket is more likely required for ease of use for her Dyson Air wrap, tablet and iphone methinks - Not that any of that makes any difference

they ask you to do these things, then 4 hours later come along expecting it to be all done, whereupon they remind you (for the very fist time to your knowledge) of an appointment you need to take them to, (which was why you should have finished 2 hours ago) and tell you you should have told them it would take all day before you started.

Top Tip which I tell all my clients - Steer clear of purchasing floor / wall tiles from B&Q and similar diy outlets. They are cheaper for a reason.  In my experience the quality control is all over the place.  The colour / shade / glaze / finish are fine, it's the sizing's that's the issue.  It doesn't happen every time but you can bet when tiles are differing in size by the odd 1mm or more here and there, they have been purchased from the above mentioned outlets.  Plays havoc trying to get the grout lines spot on

I'm not a fan of sockets with integrated USB ports.

On the vast majority of them there is no way of isolating the charger, so if it develops a fault (and we've all heard of problems with USB chargers going pop) and decides to cook itself then it's going to be a pretty unpleasant job of hastily removing the socket. 

The better ones shut the power off when the USB cable is removed, but in reality people are probably going to leave the leads plugged in for the sake of convenience.

Why they don't have a switch for the USB component is beyond me.

Last Monday I collected 20m2 of B&Q's finest which I had to drive over 100 miles to collect because "it has to be those"

Funny old day,

booked in for a 10 minute procedure to remove a growth on my middle finger today.

The dermatologist went off sick and was replaced by another chap.

He looked at the growth and said, good news and bad news, you need a specialist plastics hand surgeon, it is beyond a dermatologist.

 The good news is i am a plastics hand surgeon helping out dermatology for the day.

1 1/2 hours of surgery and 20 stitches later the job was done.

The finger was sliced up and is now immobilized against my shoulder for 4 days and useless for 3 to 4 weeks.

Supposed to be heading to Norfolk tomorrow for two weeks, that has been delayed for a couple of days.

If I wave to you on the river, please excuse my extended middle finger

Gosh Mark, that must have been a shock. Sounds like you struck lucky with the person treating you though, so hopefully all will be well for the future?

I went for a walk on Bacton beach and spied a Rig close in. 

Must be off Happisburgh I thought so having finished my walk I drove to Cart Gap. Actually the Happisburgh beach Car Park would have been better but it is Parish Council and my North Norfolk season ticked is not accepted. I don't know what it is doing and there was nobody to ask.

But now for what really made my day:-

An Austin Gypsy! 1966, 54 years young and still being used by a tree and hedge man!

We had one on our farm in the 60s. It brought back many happy memories of rabbiting at night at this time of year driving across the stubble like a lunatic when I was 15 or so.

I think the "Flying A" must have been taken off an Austin car as I am pretty sure the Gypsy did not have one.

It was their replacement for the Austin Champ that was fitted with a 4 litre RollsRoyce engine made by them under licence. With both vehicles they were looking for the lightweight Military market but neither was well received, they prefered the Land Rover.

The death came when Rover merged with BMC and effectively both were being produced  by the same company.

There was one other problem for some prospective buyers. The Gypsy was only four-wheel-drive in low ratio, which mean't a top speed of about 25 to 30 mph in 4x4 mode. I have to say it never bothered us as we used it mostly off road.

The Champ was a really good machine but it drank fuel and I am told it was a pig to work on and generally far too expensive over it's life cycle.

On the plus side when fitted with their special independent suspension and in high ratio it was a very much more comfortable on-road car than the Land Rover.

My dads ski boat had a flying A on the bow on account of the donor car for the marinised engine which was no gear box raw water cooled but perfectly adequate for the task. Aside of that Chris B I know of this chap, he does tree work for my neighbour from time to time and also has a very early unimog in his arboricultural armarda! Burns oil but has a mast with some sort of grab attachment for clasping a tree, chain saw the base and then lower straight into the trailer, he takes 15 minutes to do what takes me half a day with hand tools. The Gypsy is nice for the fact that it isn’t ubiquitous like the Landy.

Wedding anniversary, up early swim before breakfast, sort the kids out, drop them at school then seize the opportunity, back home then dishwasher loaded and on, ponder where to go, decision made, Wiveton Hall farm cafe, coffee and sausage roll, highly recommend, middle of a field, space abound, sea view, normal for nor’ folk!

Back via coast road and church we married at, oil burner vw camper in front, hang back to avoid fuming up our cabin, home, make pizza dough, pick up kids, errands, cook pizza for kids, supermarket for bits and bobs, home again, pizza for us, dark, zzzzzzz.......

In my time I've received and returned handshakes, salutes, the thumbs...up and down, air kisses, the occasional bow and the middle and two fingers but today I was confronted with something absolutely ridiculous. A grown man, advancing towards me waggling his elbow at me.
"What's your game sonny?" I asked him.
"It's the new handshake since covid, you bump elbows."
Apparently my reply of 'go stand over there you clown before I knock you out' is not the response he was anticipating.

I've actually got TWO days off, what's more they are together, today and tomorrow, a rare event.

MrsG is out for a nail appointment just now, on her return we are off to view and maybe test drive a Ford Edge as a possible replacement for her ageing Focus

We are due to Have grandson No1 with us from midday

I have five estimates to go and visit then sort out and email off, I will do them this afternoon

The rest of the time will be rubbing down wall in our second bedroom ready for first coat of paint

Tomorrow is Clay shooting then more decorating in t afternoon
